Pre-Google Docs Lesson Plan
I've been working really hard on a Science lesson plan for my 3rd grade class and I will be using Google Docs in this lesson. The students will be learning about the food chain and working in groups to help put the correct order of the food chain together, then they will answer some higher-thinking questions. On Google Docs, each group will have a computer to use, and on the program, each student in the group will take turns writing the correct animal in the food chain. They will each also type up an unanswered question they may have or a detail they learned about the lesson that they would like to share. I'm a bit nervous to use the Google Docs in my lesson because I'm not very good at using technology, so I'm really hoping that the lesson goes good and that the students will learn what they need to know.

This sounds like a lot of fun for your students! I was nervous using Google Docs at first too and I am technology savvy, but my lesson went well and I did it with kindergarten so your 3rd graders should have no problem completing the task. I think the idea of having them work together is great and maybe you could turn it into a contest to add more fun for the students! Good luck and I look forward to reading how it went!
ReplyDeleteI remember talking to you about this lesson! I think having collaborative groups is an excellent idea, especially because often there aren't enough computers to go around. Great way to get around that problem. I dont think your students will have too much of a problem with google docs, and if they do, hey, it was their first experience with the program. I would suggest some extra consideration to the modeling portion of the lesson in order to minimize students' confusion during the activity. Good Luck!
